AUSTIN — Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Center for Education Freedom Director Kent Grusendorf and Policy Analyst Michael Barba were in The Wall Street Journal last Saturday with a commentary entitled, “How Texas Can Take the Lead on School Choice.”

An excerpt from the essay follows:

This year, lawmakers should seize the opportunity to leapfrog other states by enacting universal educational freedom, putting Texas in a position of leadership. This fight matters far beyond our state’s borders. Texas is a bellwether—it is, as the saying goes, where the future comes to be born. If we can succeed in giving all parents the freedom to choose what’s best for their children, then reformers may be able to do the same just about anywhere.

Grusendorf and Barba are available to discuss their piece and the fight for education freedom in Texas. To schedule interviews, please contact Caroline Espinosa at [email protected] or call (512) 472-2700.

The Honorable Kent Grusendorf, director of the Center for Education Freedom at TPPF, represented Arlington in the Texas Legislature for twenty years, focusing on education. Serving on the House Public Education Committee and various Select Committees, he played a significant role in crafting legislative responses to the Edgewood I, Edgewood II, Edgewood III, Edgewood IV, and West Orange Cove school-finance court decisions.
