AUSTIN – The Texas Public Policy Foundation's Center for Tenth Amendment Action will host the policy panel "Defeating the Trojan Horse: Federal Assistance to the States" at the 12th Annual Policy Orientation for the Texas Legislature on Thursday, January 9, at 3:25 p.m. at the Sheraton Austin Hotel at the Capitol. 

"The federal government lures states into grand bargains but then the questions and concerns arise: what regulations and controls will follow, will the federal government keep its part of the bargain, and what is the real price that the state will ultimately pay?" said Karen Lugo, Director of the Center for Tenth Amendment Action at the Texas Public Policy Foundation.

Panelists include:

  • Karen Lugo (TPPF moderator) is the Director of the Center for Tenth Amendment Action at the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
     
  • Representative Matt Krause serves the people of House District 93. He is a member of the County Affairs and Special Purpose Districts committees. As an attorney, he specializes in constitutional litigation and seeks to "restore the culture one case at a time, by defending the sanctity of human life, the traditional family, and religious liberties."
     
  • Representative Steve Toth was elected to the House of Representatives to represent House District 15. As both the author of the Firearm Protection Act and Taxpayer Equitable Funding Act, he is a strong supporter of personal liberty.
     
  • Adam Berry is Regulatory Policy Director & Special Counsel in the office of Indiana Governor Mike Pence. As policy director, he assists with the development and implementation of Governor Pence's regulatory agenda with a focus on professional licensing, private sector/small business economic development, and state procurement.
     
  • Mario Loyola is Chief Counsel to the Texas Public Policy Foundation, working in areas related to constitutional law and federalism, including constitutional litigation.
