AUSTIN – The Texas Public Policy Foundation offered the following statements on the White House tax plan issued earlier today.

From Dr. Vance Ginn, Economist in the Center for Fiscal Policy:

"The tax cut package announced today by the Trump administration appears to be a terrific step in reducing an overly burdensome federal tax code that has contributed to the slowest economic recovery since WWII," said Dr. Ginn. "The combination of reducing the highest corporate tax rate in the developed world and excessive individual income tax rates would rightfully leave more money in the productive private sector. These are moves right out of the playbook of the Texas model that has supported substantial prosperity for millions."

From Mr. Chip Roy, director of the Center for Tenth Amendment Action:

"While we have not seen the details and there are a few provisions that merit further study– the overall direction of the Trump administration tax proposal is very encouraging," said Mr. Roy. "The proposed tax cuts should reduce the size and scope of government rather than being preoccupied with so-called revenue neutrality. Such reductions will help fuel badly needed economic growth."
