The Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Center for Families and Children Director Brandon Logan issued the following statement on Governor Greg Abbott’s declaration today in his State of the State address that child protective services is an emergency item.
 
"By declaring the State's child protective services his first emergency item today, Governor Abbott continued his unwavering commitment to keep Texas children safe,” said Logan. “We can all agree that Texas kids deserve better. Texans are ready to get to work to make our child welfare system among the best in the nation and we thank Governor Abbott for his leadership on this important issue."
