Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Center for Effective Justice today released a paper by Senior Policy Analyst Greg Glod on probation funding. The paper, Incentivizing Results: Lessons from other States’ Probation Funding Formula Reforms and Recommendations to Texas Lawmakers, examines incentivized probation outcomes and how to implement reforms in Texas.

“Texas and other states have shown how a greater emphasis on probation for certain offenders can make us safer while saving substantial amounts in corrections costs,” said Glod. “Changes to current adult probation funding formulas, as proposed in this paper, can have the Lone Star State achieve better probation results, improving the lives of offenders and all Texans.”
