The Texas Public Foundation commends Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton for seeking both a temporary and permanent injunction against Harris County Clerk Chris Hollins to prevent his office from sending over two million applications for mail in ballots to every registered voter in Harris County regardless of whether the voter requested an application or qualifies to vote by mail.

“Harris County officials have been incorrectly informing voters regarding their eligibility to vote by mail,” said Francisco “Quico” Canseco, director of the Election Protection Project at the Texas Public Policy Foundation. “County officials must follow the law and should avoid causing confusion and voters must feel confidence in the electoral system that their vote will not be stolen or lost. The request for injunction filed by Attorney General Paxton seeks to remedy the distrust in our electoral process caused by Harris County’s blatant disregard for the law.”
