Today, the Texas Public Policy Foundation applauds the Texas Senate for passing Senate Bill 1, historic legislation that will allow the parents of 6.24 million children to take a central role in their children’s education by creating a universal Education Savings Account program.

“This special session is an unprecedented opportunity to empower parents with greater transparency, quality, respect, and choice in their child’s education,” said Greg Sindelar, TPPF’s chief executive officer. “The ESA that will be created by Senate Bill 1 will offer education opportunity to all Texas children.”

“We are witnessing bold leadership from both Education Chairmen in this special session,” said Mandy Drogin, TPPF’s Next Generation Campaign Director. “Chairmen Creighton and Buckley are working tirelessly to improve education opportunity for every Texas student, and their work will benefit our children for generations to come.”
