AUSTIN – The Texas Public Policy Foundation announced today that it is partnering with Salem Radio Network (SRN), one of America’s largest syndicated radio networks, on “Free American Energy Now!,” an outreach campaign to increase public awareness of the ways in which federal environmental policy is impeding American economic recovery and energy independence.

The announcement was made at the Foundation’s “Lone Star Issues” luncheon in Austin today, which was headlined by Dr. William Bennett, whose morning talk program is nationally syndicated by SRN.

“Texans understand that economic growth depends on many factors – one of them being a reliable supply of affordable energy,” said Foundation president Brooke Rollins. “This project will help Americans in other parts of the country understand the high price they pay from allowing federal bureaucracies to undermine our energy security.”

The Foundation’s Armstrong Center for Energy & the Environment, led by its director Kathleen Hartnett White, has published extensive research on conventional and alternative energy sources, Texas’ remarkable environmental improvement through application of free-market principles, and the economic and environmental impact of federal environmental legislation and regulation.

“Our listeners are part of a broad consensus of Americans who want more good-paying jobs in America, abundant and inexpensive energy, and to quit bankrolling foreign governments that mean our country harm,” said Lee Habeeb, SRN’s vice president of content. “As we surveyed the landscape, we saw the Texas Public Policy Foundation as perfectly situated to explain what stands in the way of our country achieving those goals.”

Brooke Rollins is president and CEO of the Texas Public Policy Foundation.

Kathleen Hartnett White is Distinguished Senior Fellow-in-Residence and Director of the Armstrong Center for Energy & the Environment at the Texas Public Policy Foundation. She served as Commissioner and Chairman of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality between 2001 and 2007.

Salem Radio Network is a full-service satellite radio network based in Dallas. Its roster of talk radio hosts includes Bill Bennett, Mike Gallagher, Dennis Prager, Michael Medved, and Hugh Hewitt.

The Texas Public Policy Foundation is a non-profit, free-market research institute based in Austin.
