AUSTIN – The Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) will host a policy primer titled, “The Debate over Texas State Supported Living Centers: How to Reform an Outdated System” TOMORROW, Tuesday, October 6 at 11:30 am CDT in the Joe B. Hogsett Theater at the Texas Public Policy Foundation.

Texas has the largest institutionalized population in the country and operates more state-run facilities than any other state. This ineffectual and expensive system is in dire need of reform. Some call for privatization, consolidation, and closure, while others say the state should invest more in its institutional system without making structural changes.
