In a new episode of The Arena with Texas Public Policy Foundation CEO Greg Sindelar, Rep. David Spiller outlined several pieces of legislation he’s working on to secure the Texas border.

“We’ve learned our lesson,” Spiller said, referring to the Biden Administration’s disastrous border policies. “We just assume that common sense will prevail, and those things aren’t going to happen. But we can’t assume that anymore. Texans have to step up and protect Texas and that’s what we’re going to do.”

Spiller outlined his bill improve coordination between federal, state and local law enforcement in removing criminal illegal aliens in our country.

“The big one that’s coming up is the section 287(g) bill,” he explained. “It’s where we compel local law enforcement to assist the federal government, the Trump Administration, in removing and deporting those people that are here illegally that have criminal warrants out for them.”

“My view is if that’s the law and that’s what the federal government is doing to enforce the law to help keep us safe, then we as local law enforcement agencies in Texas need to cooperate and need to assist in that to keep our state and our country safe from these folks that pose a public safety risk.”
