Dear lawmaker,

Under the Texas Constitution, judges are unable to deny bail for defendants pre-trial, except for in very narrow cases, such as capital murder. As a result, high-risk threats to society can continue to compromise public safety if they simply have enough money to post bail.

By amending the Texas Constitution and allowing judges to deny bail in high-risk, violent cases, you can give judges an extra tool to protect the public and keep our communities safe.

I encourage you amend our Texas Constitution to provide judges with an additional tool to better keep communities safe!

Sincerely,
