AUSTIN – Today, Dr. Vance Ginn, economist with the Center for Fiscal Policy at Texas Public Policy Foundation, will testify before the Senate Committee on Education, specifically on Senate Bill 16 relating to a commission to recommend improvements to school finance.

“The fundamental problem with Texas’ school finance system is that it is designed around equity for school districts rather than equity per student,” said Ginn. “Student-centered funding is a transparent, equitable, and portable means to provide real opportunity to Texas students and families. Moreover, legislators should deregulate public schools and allow educators to operate as the professionals they are to bring innovation and results to the classroom.”
