AUSTIN – On Friday, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released state-level labor market information for June 2017. The Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Economist Dr. Vance Ginn issued the following statement:
“Texas continues an extraordinary pace of net nonfarm job creation with the most nationwide last month of 40,200 jobs and in the last twelve months of 319,300 jobs,” said Dr. Ginn. “Texas employers have now added a net number of jobs in 77 of the last 81 months, helping keep the state’s unemployment rate at or below 5 percent, which some economists consider a full employment level, for 36 straight months, which no other large state has come close. By empowering Texas families, defending local liberty, and promoting statewide reform in the special session, the 85th Legislature can continue to enhance the Texas model that has long supported economic prosperity.”
