AUSTIN, TX – The Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Center for Higher Education Analyst Trevor McGuire today discussed public education in Texas on a panel, “The State of Education in Texas,” as part of the Rockwall County Days 2016.

“In 2009, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan called on American colleges and universities to ‘move beyond the iron triangle,’ or to challenge the belief that higher education cannot improve quality or access without simultaneously raising costs,” said McGuire. “Texas has led the nation in this challenge by creating programs that make college more affordable, more accessible, and more responsive to the state’s workforce needs – in other words, ‘bending’ the iron triangle. I look forward to discussing these achievements – and how to build on them – with the people of Rockwall County.”
