With the Texas Senate set to consider SB 17, the Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Senior Fellow Carol Swain released the following statement :

“Texas is poised to restore nondiscrimination and equal opportunity in its public universities. SB17 will eliminate all so-called diversity, equity, and inclusion departments and programs, making it the strongest anti-DEI law in the nation. Passage of the SB 17 would signal to the nation Texas’s desire to return to the intent and purpose of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment. Ending DEI programs would free up millions of dollars that can be redeployed for recruitment and remedial education for disadvantaged Texans of all races. I am thrilled to see Texas lead on an issue that will have a tremendous impact on future generations.”
