AUSTIN, TX – Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Center for Local Governance Director James Quintero will testify before the Joint Committee on Advertising Public Notices TODAY, Thursday, August 18th, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in Room E1.030 at the Texas State Capitol. Quintero will testify on the opportunity for local governments to realize cost savings by better incorporating technology into the posting and advertising of public notices.
“Local governments spend millions every year to purchase advertising space in print newspapers to publicize their public notices,” said Quintero. “This is an expensive and outdated practice in need of a 21st century update. The next legislature should look to relax these requirements so that local governments have the option to post public notices online instead of in print.”
