AUSTIN – John Davidson, policy analyst for the Center for Health Care Policy at the Texas Public Policy Foundation, will testify before the House Appropriations Committee at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, March 8, in room E1.030 of the Texas State Capitol.

Davidson will offer recommendations for fundamental Medicaid reform, not expansion. Reforms include championing for more control at the state level rather than the federal government.

“As recent Foundation survey results show, Texans prefer Medicaid reform, not Medicaid expansion,” said Davidson. “Expanding Medicaid is merely a short-term fix that doesn’t address the fundamental failures of a program that provides sub-standard health care and poor access to physicians. Texas can and should design a better way forward than what Washington, D.C. has been able to provide.”
