AUSTIN – The Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Director of the Center for Local Governance James Quintero issued the following statement on The University of Texas and the Texas Tribune statewide survey on the 85th Legislature’s top priorities, which was conducted from Feb. 3-10, 2017. The most frequent response when asked what issue should be the “the legislature’s top priority” was “lowering property tax bills for homeowners.”
"The new UT/Texas Tribune poll confirms what many already know—Texans are eager for the legislature to act on property tax reform," said Quintero. "Texas' property tax system is fundamentally broken and needs to be overhauled to make sure that the family budget takes priority over the government's budget."
