AUSTIN – The Texas Public Policy Foundation today released a paper by Center for Effective Justice Policy Analyst Greg Glod outlining Texas’ adult criminal justice reform successes. The paper, Texas Adult Corrections: A Model for the Rest of the Nation, outlines adult criminal justice reform policies that Texas lawmakers enacted, which can be used as a guide for the federal government and other states to adopt similar legislation.

“The U.S. House and Senate have introduced criminal justice reform bills that have bipartisan support in each chamber,” said Glod. “We are pleased to see the federal government follow the lead of the states, especially Texas, in being tough but smart on crime.

“This paper provides the road map to the success Texas has enjoyed since 2005, including the lowest crime and incarceration rates since the 1960s.”
