The Texas Public Policy Foundation praises Speaker Dade Phelan for the formation of the House Select Committee on Educational Opportunity and Enrichment and welcomes the selection of Rep. Brad Buckley (R-Killeen) as the new chair, along with the additional committee members.

As Texas prepares for a potentially historic special session for the educational future of the state, this committee will play an integral part in ensuring Texans everywhere have access to the best educational opportunities available.

“Representative Buckley, an excellent chair on the House Public Education Committee, will continue his important work leading the Select Committee, and we look forward to working with him during the upcoming special session,” said Mandy Drogin, campaign director for TPPF’s Next Generation Texas initiative. “Now is the time to ensure that Texans have an education system that empowers parents with the freedom to select the best education for their child and provides all students with the highest quality education possible.”
