AUSTIN— Today, the Texas Public Policy Foundation applauds Gov. Greg Abbott’s renewed commitment to parents’ rights in Texas public schools and the right of those parents to make decisions about their child’s education. By announcing a formal Parents Bill of Rights, Texas leads the nation in ensuring that parents are empowered and respected in the Texas education system.

TPPF’s K-12 Education Policy Director Michael Barba released the following statement:

“We applaud Gov. Abbott’s Parental Bill of Rights. Parent empowerment in education is the Texas Public Policy Foundation’s top issue.  All families deserve curriculum transparency, a quality education, respect for their input, and ultimately the right to choose the best education for their child. They should know what is taught to their children, have confidence that their children are being put on a path to success, be met with respect when they raise valid concerns, and be able to choose the best-fit education for their children.”
