Dr. Vance Ginn, former Chief Economist for the Office of Management and Budget and current Chief Economist for the Texas Public Policy Foundation, released the following statement regarding the Bureau of Labor Statistics recent jobs report:

“Today’s jobs report is proof that the states phasing out government shutdowns are helping families and workers get back on track, while the states still on lockdown are extending the suffering. In particular, there were 3.1 million jobs created in the productive private sector last month when many expected another huge loss. And that’s barely tapping the potential for job growth if Washington could come together to enact the right reforms. Policies such as the Workplace Recovery Act and the payroll tax cut suspension would better target the relief the country needs and truly help the 21 million people who are either unemployed or have stopped looking for work.”
