AUSTIN, TX – The Texas Public Policy Foundation’s James Quintero, director of the Center for Local Governance, and Allegra Hill, policy analyst in the Center for Fiscal Governance, will moderate a DFW Local Officials Symposium, leading discussions on economic development and fiscal policy. The Symposium, hosted by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, Direct Action Texas, and the R Street Institute will take place on Friday, February 5, 2016 in Dallas, Texas.

“There is a fine line between creating a business-friendly, low-tax environment and allowing the government to play favorites by offering targeted incentives,” said Hill. “Determining what the right policy prescription is for local economic development is a complex, but critical task for local officials.”

“With local debt reaching alarming levels, it’s important that Metroplex officials seek out all manner of opportunities to stretch those dollars and find places to cut,” said Quintero. “Getting it right on government taxes and spending is absolutely critical in today’s tough economic times.”
