AUSTIN—The Texas Public Policy Foundation praises the Senate Committee on State Affairs’  passage of Senate Bills 248524862487, and 2488.

These pieces of legislation will ensure consistency and uniformity in employment regulations and allow private employers and employees to operate in an economy where they can freely negotiate the terms of employment.

“Texas has long had a reputation as a vibrant and business-friendly state,” said Think Local Liberty’s Shelby Sterling. “But overreaching local governments are tarnishing this brand with California-style mandates that interfere in the employer-employee relationship. Last night’s passage of Senate Bills 2485, 2486, 2487, and 2488 by the Texas Senate signals that state lawmakers are serious about reversing this local trend and protecting private parties’ freedom to negotiate.”

TPPF recently published an op-ed in the Austin American-Statesman calling for consistent private employment regulations statewide.
