Today, the Texas Public Policy Foundation applauds the proposed legislation to protect Texas children from sex reassignment medical procedures, filed by Sen. Donna Campbell and Rep. Tom Oliverson as House Bill 1686 and Senate Bill 625 respectively. This legislation, the Children’s Gender Protection Act, will protect children and prevent harmful experimentation by prohibiting doctors from providing unproven and risky medical procedures for children struggling with their gender identity.

“The push to medically transition children experiencing gender dysphoria is activism masquerading as science. It effectively turns children into experimental subjects, placing their health and their families’ well-being at risk,” said TPPF Associate Vice President of Policy Andrew Brown. “We are grateful to Rep. Oliverson and Sen. Campbell–both highly respected physicians–for their leadership in developing an effective, compassionate solution for protecting children from these potentially harmful medical procedures.”
