Today, the Texas House unanimously passed House Bill 4, a proposal that would afford Texans the strongest data privacy protections in the nation. The bill now heads to the Texas Senate for consideration. TPPF CEO Greg Sindelar released the following statement:

“Texans should be able to exercise control and ownership over their personal information. As we spend more time online and businesses find increasingly creative and lucrative ways of tracking, harvesting, and selling our data to the highest bidder, the gravity of this issue has come into clear focus for everyday Texans and the Legislature. By giving Texans the right to know, correct, delete, and opt-out of data collection, HB 4 accomplishes the important goal of putting consumers in the driver’s seat over their information.”
