Today, the Texas Public Policy Foundation announced its support for Congress’ DETERRENT Act (H.R. 5933), vital legislation that will require additional disclosure from colleges and universities concerning foreign gifts and contracts. By allowing for the restriction of contracts with foreign entities and countries of concern, requiring staff and faculty to report foreign gifts, and requiring the disclosure of foreign investments within endowments, the DETERRENT Act will bring transparency to foreign influence on our college campuses.

“For years, hostile nations have been infiltrating America’s college campuses in order to thwart our principles and interests. To remedy this, the DETERRENT Act provides much-needed transparency on just who is giving how much to whom, and for what purposes,” said Tom Lindsay. “Only through this disinfecting sunlight can we hope to protect our college students from hostile foreign influence schemes.”
