AUSTIN – The Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) today released a paper on forced annexation by Allegra Hill, policy analyst for the Center for Local Governance at TPPF. The paper, “Mythbusters: Annexation,” identifies and clarifies common arguments made by proponents of unilateral annexation.

“Sound public policy requires clarity. Proponents of unilateral annexation put forth a lot of arguments, and we need to acknowledge, confront, and debate those arguments to get at the heart of the disagreement,” said Allegra Hill, policy analyst for the Center for Local Governance. “Our Mythbusters publication seeks to do just that. And ultimately, the real point of disagreement is whether the ends – the growth of cities – justify bowling over people’s right to vote. Quite simply, it doesn’t.”
