At this breakfast, we honor the men and women who, over a quarter century, have been the heart and soul of the Texas Public Policy Foundation. Liberty is the work of many hands, and Texas is the product of many dreams. This morning we thank the strong hearts and the fine minds that have dedicated themselves to the cause of the Lone Star State: “we few, we happy few.” Their work, and their passion, are seen not simply with- in the confines of the policy world but are visible everywhere—in every Texas community, and in every Texas home, that is a little more prosperous, a little more free, and a little more optimistic because they served with this Foundation. These are the heroes of freedom in today’s Texas: and though the world may not know their names, the Lone Star State knows their achievements—and we are sincerely grateful.
