Home of Micah & Wally Dunn
Midland, TX 79705
LLC members* are invited to a salon dinner** at the home of Micah and Wally Dunn for a conversation about parent empowerment.
The Lone Star State has entered the dance floor on one of the most important issues facing our communities over the past several decades: parental empowerment. Texas has taken slow steps toward improving education options, but now it’s time to take fast steps to empower families. Join the Dallas and Fort Worth Liberty Leadership Council,* along with America’s Future,** for a conversation on the legislative steps that should be taken in order to ensure that Texas children have a high-quality education that equips them with the tools and experiences necessary to succeed.
First, Texas should empower families by funding choice because parents best understand their children’s learning needs. Since there is currently no general statewide system of school choice funding in Texas, Texas’s many education options are available only to those who can afford them. Texas should also expand educational options by increasing access to quality virtual learning systems. These virtual schools maximize the potential of online learning but Texas has arbitrarily restricted access to such high-quality online schooling options by cutting off funding for new virtual schools.
Texas has taken two small steps so far; it’s time for it to take two fast steps toward school choice and family empowerment.
