Clifford F Porter MD PhD, is the Senior Fellow for Healthcare at the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
Dr. Porter is a primary and urgent care physician, founding Texas Direct Medical Care, using the Direct Primary Care model. Dr. Porter joined the growing number of physicians leaving corporate and government healthcare working to reform medicine and restore freedom and control to both patients and physicians.
Dr. Porter previously was medical director for several urgent care clinics in Travis County. Dr. Porter is a retired Colonel (US Army Reserve), originally enlisting with 30 years of service in the Reserve, Regular Army, and Texas Army National Guard, including deployment to Iraq with 1st Armored Division. Prior to his medical career, Dr Porter taught history and philosophy, writing on ideologies and totalitarianism.
Dr Porter remains active in his academic and healthcare reform research writing on healthcare reform, medical ethics, and history. His current research is on the White Rose resistance; a small group of Christian medical students who resisted Nazism.
