The TPPF Take: Student loan forgiveness is about more than just the financial cost – the social costs need to be considered as well.
“When the government expanded and monopolized student loan programs they created the problem which has led to this country’s student loan debt crisis,” says TPPF’s Kevin Roberts. “Of the 17% of Americans who have student loan debt, 48% of student debt is held by those with an advanced degree and an annual income of $97,000 or more. Forgiving student loans for elites would undermine the values this country was founded upon.”
