AUSTIN, TX – The Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Center for Effective Justice Policy Analyst Greg Glod testified today before the Texas House Corrections Committee. Mr. Glod testified on what states are doing to reduce recidivism through programs in corrections facilities and during community supervision.

“We commend the House Corrections Committee for taking up this important subject that effects every Texan, both in their safety and their pocket book,” said Glod. “Although we have taken great steps as a state in reducing crime and incarceration rates, recidivism numbers from prison, state jail have remained stagnant. Further, revocation rates for active felony supervision has slightly increased. Success in other states shows that better results are possible for our incarcerated and supervised populations.”

Glod was joined by Douglas Smith of the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition, a member of the Smart on Crime Coalition, a group dedicated to pursue safe, cost-effective criminal justice reforms of which the Texas Public Policy is a member.

Greg Glod is a Policy Analyst with Right on Crime and the Center for Effective Justice at the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
