AUSTIN – The Honorable Talmadge Heflin, director of the Texas Public Policy Foundation’s (TPPF) Center for Fiscal Policy and former chairman of the Texas House Committee on Appropriations will testify before the Texas Senate Finance Committee TOMORROW, Tuesday, March 17, at 9:00 a.m. CDT in room E1.036 of the Texas State Capitol. Mr. Heflin will focus his remarks on Senate Joint Resolution 2 and its enabling legislation Senate Bill 9.

“With the state’s total budget increasing by more than population growth plus inflation since 2004, Texans are being asked to fund through higher taxes and fees an ever-increasing footprint of government reducing their opportunity to prosper,” said Heflin. “By substantially reforming the state’s weak tax and expenditure limit, SJR 2 and SB 9 will help Texas remain the model of opportunity and success for the rest of the nation.”
